explorer day, ages 9 - 12, Thu 27th Oct 2011

A long journey with a group of boys around the countryside.

A mega journey through the landscape.  The boys got to know each other and chatted nicely.  We were tested by some 'wild horses'.  The mother stamped her foot at us, protecting her foal.  We decided to creep around through a hedge until we were well clear.  We arrived at camp (the original bottom camp, now inhabited by pigs).  The tarp went up to create a dry space in the incessant drizzle.  Edward decided his poncho was wetter inside than out.  With a cosy fire going we chatted, ate, laughed, whittled and enjoyed ourselves.  Tristan, Ivan and Jaque built a den.  Will made wooden utensils.  Charlie and Louis chatted and played with the fire.  Jack helped with the fire and worked with Charlie and Louis.  The sky kept dripping as we set off for home at 3, disappointing for some that we had to go.

Best bits:-  Jacque - Den; Ivan - den; Oscar - making ultimate cheese pitta; Jack - fire; Charlie - cooking; Tristan - den; Louis - walking around and cooking; Will - cutlery set; Sam - swing

Leaders:- Edward and Lucy
Camp:- 'Bottom' camp
