An after school club held in the upper swainswick house's garden and house. Scroll down for diaries.
23rd Nov:
Barney organised Arthur, Liam, Joe and another boy for a rugby match, they had a scrum. "Crouch, touch, pause, ENGAGE!" I heard Barney coaching. There were some conversions with Joe making a successful conversion. In the art studio Isobel and Emma did art and even drew on their faces with charcoal - looking like chimney sweeps, they raced round the garden afterwards in the fading light. There were some nice outcomes in the art room. Jack and Toby got involved. The club finished with scooting on the paving stones.
16th Nov:
"What, no coats?", asked Barney of some of the children. Once properly fed and equipped for the crisp, misty outdoors, some boys played a game of war using the red and black tubes for guns. There were forcefields, aliens and running. "It's like halo". Hide and Seek tag. In the studio there were various artistic projects going on. Finlay painted. Isobel and Emma drew a treasure map together. Liam also painted. Inside there were marble games and a 'Bagatelle' tournament with Jack recording the points.
9th Nov:-
Barney facilitated a lovely game of football, with Edmund getting 'man of the match' and Liam showing particularly good sportsmanship. In the workshop afterwards there was green woodworking and Joe did some pole lathing for the first time. He selected a log, split it and then made a baton, a cylindrical shape. Meanwhile George and Fin were doing art in the studio with Julie and Rachel. Isobel was indoors with Rebecca and when more people came in there was a big game of 'twister'.
2nd Nov:-
Isobel, Liam and Arthur had a first sitting for tea. Edward had a friend to visit who he knew from university, Riaz from India. When the outdoor crew went in for second sitting they asked him questions while consuming their bread and spread. "Are you Indian?" "yes", "Is it hot there?" "yes in summer", "What's your job?" "hospitality" and "What's your sport?" "swimming". Back out the boys all played a game of chase and war. George and Finlay got the tools form Edward to make something in the workshop. Isobel layed in the lounge and played games before going to art and doing a painting of "Munchin land". With the light fading fast Edmund and Toby headed inside. Finlay went to do art with Julie and Joanna in the black hole. Jack and Joe braved the rapidly dipping temperature, relaxing in the hammock and looking up to the twilight sun.
