after school club, Thursdays in December 2011

An after school club with a focus on outdoor play in large garden and old fashioned house.  Scroll down for diaries.  Written by Barney.

8th Dec:-
After a very windy day, the rain finally arrived for the last club of the year.  A few children still insisted on being outside in the wet and dark, slipping, running, scrapping and laughing.  Seb and Sonny were last to come in.  They had to dry off in the kitchen with their backs to the AGA, "my bum's on fire" called Seb.
On the tea table were gole, frankincense and myrrh.  They had come from Rachel and Edward's advent walk.  Christmas decorations were finished off.  The Monkton Farley Boys were almost exploding with energy so Louise had them all jumping together, with the little santa singing, "Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way".  More games carried on, pick-up sticks, twister and pop up pirate.

1st Dec:-
Great club today.  A lovely relaxed tea with people trying to use softer voices.  The Monkton Farleigh boys all had Match Attax which their teacher had given them.  "I've got eight shiny's"..."I've got Rooney". Outdoor time brought play on the swings, tag and football.  Seb and Keelan beat Barney 7-2.  As night fell there was some rough and tumble with everyone ending up on top of each other.  Sonny had a bit of a scrape trying to do a stunt on the likeabike.  Indoors the lounge fire was warm and cosy.  There were some high quality games of twister.  Seb and Hendric played bagatelle.  In the kitchen, Louise helped Theo, Pippa and Sonny to make Christmas decorations: paper chains and laminated snow flakes.
