Explorer day, mixed group from 6-12 yrs old, Mon 19th Dec 2011

A big group of explorers set off on a very rainy day and arrive back early to warm up.  Scroll down for photos.

With everybody well equipped with boots and waterproofs, we set off slightly nervously under a grey winter sky.  Down a lane we soon popped through an old iron gate and up a steep hill. Some people spotted signs of cows.  "This cow must have slipped while he was doing a poo." We arrived at camp.  Everyone helped to collect wood for the fire and we soon had two shelters and a rope swing up.  Some people peeled sticks, some made five finger braids, others just enjoyed the mud or the rope swing..  Madeleine led a nice round of Christmas singing.  In the slipper camp everyone was happy.  We had marshmallows before packing up. The den was left standing and we marched back.

Best bits:- Peter - going on the swing; Madeleine - everything and that weaving; Daniel - going on the swing and mud sliding; Jack - I liked using the rope swing; Ben - the rope swing, probably; Tom - marshmallows and the mud;  Ollie - everything, settling alight my marshmallows; Lara - doing the five finger weaving; Barney - making the hiking sticks; Sebastian - walking and making the den; Sophie - my best part was mud sliding

Leaders:- Barney, Sue and Lucy; Camp:- Ditch camp
