Josh's explorer party, boys turning 9, Sat 10th Dec 2011

A group of 10 children take a short walk up to top camp.  Photos to come.

Josh and his friends had a quick play on the 'obstacle course' on the bottom lawn, where later there would be a BB war.  Quick safety talk, "car up, car down and smile".  Off towards the field of freedom, over a stile, "give some space or get a kick in the face".  We bid good morning to some humans.  Edward cut some hazel walking sticks.  Climb to the top of the world and stop for a snack of carrot and apple.  Ella shares some chocolate buttons.  Through a snake wood.  Look at Salisbury Hill and some custard creams to top up our sugar levels.  Past the wild dogs and through the field of fear.  Josh led us to a tall tree and into the forest.  "This is definitely an ant hill."  Into a jungle with wild plants and mystery.  Finally at camp work began on walking sticks.  We cooked lunch, sausages, cheese, tiger bread, onion and marshmallows.  There was water work, swinging, exploring and mastering the use of draw knives, peelers and shave horses.  All to soon it was time to douse the fire and head back for cake.

Best bits:- Josh - I liked the camp it was fun there; Noah - all of it; Fynn - sticks, making them and going on the swings; Kael - that'll be my fav... sharpening my stick; Freddie - oh sharpening the stick thing and decorating it; Ella - going there walking; Alyssa - umm... eating the sausages; Darci - the sausages because I had four of them; Toby - going to the camp, exploring and walking everywhere; Jamie - umm... probably making the fire, making the pipe and the food; Michaella - seeing them all doing their sticks, so engrossed; Ed - the blue sky; Barney - Alyssa's sing and sign

Leaders - Barney and Edward; Parents - Shaun and Michaela; Camp - Top camp

  1. We had a great day. Feedback from all the kids is very positive.

Josh is planning his next party there and cannot wait until he is old enough to camp out.

Thanks Edward and Barney. I will send some pictures soon.

  2. I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful party on Saturday.  The children absolutely loved the whole day and I did hear Fynn at one point say it was ‘the best party ever’.  Josh had a fantastic time and is keen to do the whole thing again sometime.  Sean and I had a fabulous day and it was particularly great to spend quality time with all the children and see them acquire new skills and interests.  Please do thank Edward and Barney for us, they were superb with the children and I know the whole day will be talked about for a long time to come.
