A small group of children come to play and learn at Swainswick House after school. Scroll down for diaries.
25th Jan:
Unfortunately there was no art club today. The drums were again a huge hit with the children. The children went around using the head massager on each other. Isobel played "don't say it". Justin and Tony asked Barney to put up a rope swing and then played "Nazi Zombies" (like zombies from ww2 Justin explains to me). Others were playing footbal and just running around. Edmund was 'man of the match' and Arthur got 'goal of the match'. They made a double seated rope swing.
18th Jan:-
As always tea was first, then off to play. Everyone spread out over the area. The majority of the boys went down to the bottom garden and played football. Justin led a game of army play. Isobel and Emma made a den. Luca from next door was invited over to join in. They played with the guns (imaginary) and then played a bit of rugby. Ramps were made for the scooters, and tested. Isobel and Emma drew a treasure map and followed it, then they did some hula hooping. Julie, our volunteer art teacher, made a joke book and put their jokes into it. Jack, Edmund, Liam and Arthur did some play fighting. After Jack and Edmund played one round of Bagatelle, Jack won by 160 points. Outside Isobel and Emma wrestled with Luca and Justin. Everyone went back inside because it was dark and cold. Emma, Isobel, Toby and Edmund took it in turns dragging each other around the kitchen. To finish Edward sowed Edmund and Isobel how to play Mancala. Everyone had lots of fun!
11th Jan:-
Today we had a new explorer joining us, Justin. Everyone got back washed there hands and had some tea. We went outside except Isobel who went to the studio to do some art work. Outside there was lots of activities going on. Barney warmed up the boys by playing a few rounds of 'who can get the rugby ball first', starting after it hit the ground. After that they were warmed up they played football, Barney and Edmund vs. Jack and Joe. Toby watched whilst swinging. After 10 minutes Joe went to play other games with Edmund and was replaced by Arthur and Justin. Barney, Arthur and Justin won 7-6. Toby, Joe and Edmund went and played in the red tubes with Barney rocking them and getting them out when the tube was facing down hill. Isobel did a lovely drawing of Joanna painting in the studio. Inside there was paper aeroplane making with intense concentration from all, especially Rachel. Then there was some game playing including bagatelle and 'don't say it'. Unfortunately it was time to go home. Written by Rebecca.
