A group of young children head off to Top camp. Scroll down for diaries.
The girls, Edward and Susan set off in the Landrover, while the boys, Jo and Andrew walked out to camp with Rachel. Thomas M found a pair of work mn's gloves. We stopped at the top of a steep bank. We had a competition throwing javelins. Arthur tried out his 'tobogan'! Ben had a battering ram. The wind howls. We cut hazel sticks and climbed on. "That IS windy!" Thomas M. The wind blew us along. Along "slippy, vertical deer path", someone said. Custard creams! We spread out to creep up on the girls at camp. A cold drizzle whips our faces.
At camp the campfire was going well. I heard that there was lots of giggling in the Landrover. There is a clay pit, stream and swings. We opened the woodland café and had sausages, bread and ketchup. Ed made popcorn and tea. Pepper passed it round - popping popcorn into her friends' mouths! They were learning to 5-finger weave so had their hands full! The sage tea was tasted by Pepper, Lawrence and Ben. We toasted marshmallows, decorated sticks and made woven braids. The storm raged on the plain above us. Pepper and Olivia turned into mud monsters. Lawrence puts the fire out with water he's collected. Boys dipped ends of their sticks in clay and some decorated their faces. Boys turned into red Indians on the walk home.
Best bits:- Ruby - making this (braid); Olivia - doing the sticks; Pepper - going here and coming back; Ben - making the sword; Lawrence - sawing; Thomas M - making sticks; Thomas P - making the sword; Arthur B - all of it... I guess; Milo - probably making these spears; Gabriella - unknown; Charlotte - unknown (sorry girls I missed you out by mistake); Jo - umm... watching the boys throwing themselves down the hill and the girls cover themselves in mud; Andrew - the walk has been quite fun, watching then slide down the bank and javeling; Susan - just watching the children have lots of fun with their friends.
Camp: - Top Camp; Leaders:- Edward and Rachel; Parents:- Jo, Andrew and Grandma Susan
